My experience with special educational needs
I am a qualified secondary mathematics teacher with primary training and extensive experience supporting pupils with SEND, including Autism, ADHD and SEMH. I am skilled in adapting teaching to diverse learning needs. I focus on building positive relationships, and creating structured, supportive environments which allows my students to thrive academically and emotionally.
A bit about me
Alongside my extensive teaching experience, I am also a parent of children with additional needs. This has given me a deeper insight into the day‑to‑day realities for families and has strengthened my commitment to creating calm, supportive learning environments.
My teaching philosophy
I take a child‑centred, relationship‑based approach to teaching and coaching. I begin by listening — really listening — to the child so I can understand their fears, interests, motivations and the things that make learning feel difficult. By taking time to learn who they are, I can help them work through barriers at a pace that feels safe and manageable. My focus is on building a calm, non‑judgmental rapport where the child feels understood, respected and confident. Once trust is established, children are far more willing to take risks, try new strategies and believe in their own ability to succeed.

Tahmina is an exceptional Teacher with a wealth of experience that truly knows how to approach students. She has key insights that allow her to engage and helped my child's educational progress regardless of his Special educational needs. She tackled anxiety and raised confidence.

Tahmina taught my daughter remotely and was a real positive throughout. She was friendly, patient and built a great rapport with Ella from the start, which made the sessions something Ella actually looked forward to. Reliable, professional and genuinely cared about how Ella was getting on. Would happily recommend her.
