My experience with special educational needs
I have a degree in Educational Psychology, a certificate in Special Educational Needs (Montessori), curriculum differentiation and affective education for the gifted - a fully qualified ESL teacher with experience across mainstream, SEND, and gifted education. I am also a certified provider for Reflex Integration Through Play, combining movement, play, and the science of reading and writing—addressing coordination, handwriting and literacy difficulties. I have worked as a Resource Teacher within a trans‑disciplinary SEND team, creating and implementing IEPs and supporting successful transitions into mainstream schools and tutored many children who have challenges with handwriting, and inability to progress with reading and writing.
A bit about me
I am a parent of three children, including one who was home‑educated following school burnout. I support neurodivergent children who are struggling to make progress—academically, emotionally, or both, using evidence‑based, strength‑focused approaches that deliver measurable and meaningful shifts in children’s progress. I am also a coach-in-training, to be an ICF-accredited coach, providing a safe space for children to express themselves, and to build confidence within themselves to navigate and be successful. I also enjoy coaching parents of children whom I tutor, with compassion and respect to help navigate their children’s developmental and educational needs. Coaching as a way to hold space for you and your child to join the dots, and bring new awareness to your own potential and strengths, and bring about sustainable progress.
My teaching philosophy
Combining a plethora of tools from many disciplines, I bring a fresh way and a genuine sense of curiosity to understand how each child learn and gain new skills of their choice: reading, handwriting, burnout recovery, neurodivergent‑friendly 11+ preparation, and the craft of writing in the English Language. Book a session with me, and we can co-create a learning journey tailored for your child.

I was looking for an empathetic and knowledgeable educationist who can work with my teenage son who is struggling with his writing and his coordination in general. I read Chantelle’s profile and felt she would be the right fit. Utilising a technique called Reflex Integration, she addresses some of the root causes in the challenges my son has. I like that she personalises the intervention, and that she was able to help my son understand what the intervention approach is helping him with so there is a purpose and a goal to work towards. We are a only a few sessions in and and I can already see my son’s confidence is improving.

As a parent of a child with special educational needs I realised that I needed more help than school could offer. Chantelle was there to join us on our journey. Chantelle is patient, encouraging and supportive. We could not have achieved what we have without her help. I would recommend Chantelle to any parent wanting to support their child with their education.

My son James has autism and PDA. Chantelle showed exceptionally good patience with James and would play games with him before doing any work. James would ask me when Chantelle was coming back because he enjoyed seeing her. He has dyslexia, and had not in education for 6 months. Chantelle was able to encourage James to do some maths, English, and cooking; using his career path of wanting to become a chef. It was lovely to see James smiling when Chantelle worked with him and to see how well she does with him, which I have never seen anyone do before with James. 100% if required, we would ask for Chantelle again.

Chantelle has made a really positive impact in our school through leading Reflex Integration Through Play. She has worked closely with targeted children, achieving excellent results – we’ve seen clear improvements in their focus, coordination and readiness to learn. She has also trained and supported staff effectively, helping them feel more confident in using strategies in class, and has worked well with parents to ensure consistency between home and school. Importantly, Chantelle has supported the wider development of our provision by helping adapt our curriculum to better meet pupils’ needs. She has also been a great support to me in shaping and moving forward my vision for improvement in this area across the school. Overall, her knowledge, commitment and collaborative approach have made a real difference to both children and staff.
