My experience with special educational needs
I have over 10 years experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs throughout my teaching career. As a class teacher, I have planned and delivered differentiated lessons for children with a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, dyslexia, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. I work closely with families to ensure pupils receive the support they need to succeed. I regularly adapt teaching strategies, learning materials, and assessments to suit individual learning styles, while maintaining high expectations and promoting independence. My experience has helped me develop a patient, flexible, and nurturing approach that I continue to use in my classroom and tutoring. My goal is always to build confidence, reduce anxiety around learning, and help every child achieve their potential.
A bit about me
I am an enthusiastic, dedicated and creative teacher who is confident in building rapport with young people, especially those with SEND, to create memorable learning experiences. I have a proven success in preparing students for exams and use a variety of adaptive teaching techniques. I'm knowledgeable of National Curriculum and of safeguarding as well as techniques to engage and inspire a range of pupils.
My teaching philosophy
My approach to teaching is centred on making learning enjoyable, engaging, and tailored to each child. I believe children learn best when they feel relaxed, confident, and genuinely interested in what they're doing. I take the time to get to know each student's interests and use these to make lessons more meaningful. For example, incorporating their favourite books, sports, games, or hobbies into activities and examples. I use a variety of interactive methods, including games, practical activities, quizzes, and problem-solving challenges, to keep lessons fun while ensuring clear learning goals are met. I also adapt my teaching to suit each child's learning style and pace, celebrating progress along the way to build confidence and motivation. I aim to create a positive, supportive environment where children enjoy learning, feel comfortable asking questions, and are encouraged to reach their full potential.
