My experience with special educational needs
I have been a SEND teacher for over 10 years, working in specialist secondary schools with learners with a wide range of complex additional needs. This included teaching KS3 subjects and personalising and adapting learning down to EYFS, KS1 and KS2 levels. Baselining and assessing educational needs continually to address "spiky profiles" and gaps in learning/knowledge. I have been a tutor for 2 months working with children and young people to support their learning needs again, baselining and assessing current levels and personalising learning to achieve the best outcomes.
A bit about me
I am a keen swimmer and regularly swim indoors and outdoors in pretty much any body of water going! I love animals and nature and I am a keen gardener, growing a variety of plants, flowers and vegetables. I have two young children, a husband and a dog! I volunteer with the scouts, helping out Cubs, Beavers and Squirrels with any SEND and behavioural needs.
My teaching philosophy
I offer a calm, positive and supportive approach, having completed trauma informed practice training I know how important it is to build rapport and trust before learning can take place.
