Common patterns we see

GCSE Physics can ask students to read carefully, calculate accurately and explain ideas clearly, all under time pressure. For students with dyslexia, the science may make sense in class, but marks can be lost through misread questions, keyword definitions, or units and symbols that look easy to confuse.

Clear instructions, one step at a time, and time to check meaning before starting calculations can reduce the pressure. A steady revision routine, with visible progress on known topics, can make exam practice feel calmer and more purposeful.

What progress looks like

Slider Left Arrow Slider Right Arrow

01

In GCSE Physics, progress often begins when your child can slow the wording down enough to see the Physics inside the question.

02

In worded problems, they underline the quantities, units and key Physics words before choosing an equation. This helps separate the reading task from the calculation.

03

Equations such as v = fλ or F = ma become less like strings of symbols. They label each symbol in words first, so m as mass is not confused with metres.

04

Rearranging formulas becomes easier to follow. One algebra step sits on each line, with signs copied more carefully and fewer jumps made in memory.

05

Similar-looking symbols, such as p, ρ, λ and θ, are checked against the topic and unit before being used.

06

Instead of relying only on long written explanations, they talk through forces, energy transfers or circuits aloud first. The tutor can then help them turn that visual understanding into shorter written points.

07

Some weeks will still feel slower, particularly when a question is dense or timed work adds pressure. The tutor looks for the wider pattern in reading, symbols, equations and explanation, then shares that in regular progress reviews.

Learning & study skills

Subject tutoring focuses on what is being learned (e.g., “I need help with Algebra.”).
Skills coaching focuses on how it is learned (e.g., “I need help getting organised to study for Algebra.”).

Choose the main path you want to explore first. You’ll be able to review expert profiles before making any decisions.
