Common patterns we see

Physics at home can be interesting for a student with ADHD, but hard to keep steady. They may enjoy the concepts, then lose focus during longer explanations, rush through calculations, or miss small details such as units and signs. When the routine slips, gaps can build and returning after a break can feel more difficult than the topic itself.

A clear start point helps each session feel easier to enter. Short, frequent practice, manageable tasks and simple checks at each step can support focus and make re-engagement calmer after time away.

What progress looks like

01

For homeschool Physics, useful progress can be very practical: a clearer start, a better return after drifting, or something concrete left behind from the session.

02

A Physics question begins with a visible first move. Your child might draw the object, choose a formula for speed, force, energy or electricity, or note down the information they have been given.

03

When a calculation has several stages, the working is spaced out rather than squeezed together. Units, arrows, signs and substitutions have more room, so they are less likely to disappear halfway through.

04

They use more than one route into the same idea: a quick practical, a circuit sketch, a motion diagram, then a few questions. That variety can make the concept easier to revisit than textbook reading alone.

05

After focus has drifted, they are able to come back to the task through an agreed cue, such as rereading the final sentence or checking whether the unit should be N, J, W or V.

06

Independent practice becomes easier to see. It might be a small set of completed questions, corrected mistakes, or a labelled diagram ready to return to later.

07

In home education, progress can be affected by the rhythm of the week as much as by the topic itself. The tutor keeps track of the overall direction across sessions, rather than judging the work by one difficult day.
