Common patterns we see

In homeschooled Maths, progress can come in bursts. A student with ADHD may have strong moments of understanding, then avoid starting the next session, rush through easier questions, or lose their place in a multi-step method. If lessons feel stop-start, gaps can build quietly and confidence may dip.

A repeating structure gives each session a steadier shape. Clear expectations, small goals, short practice and regular returns to key foundations can make restarts smoother after breaks.

What progress looks like

Slider Left Arrow Slider Right Arrow

01

When Maths is happening at home, progress is often visible in the atmosphere around the task as much as in the answers.

02

Getting started takes less negotiation. Your child may still need a few minutes to settle, but sitting down to begin no longer becomes the main event.

03

When a calculation goes wrong, there is more to look at than a final answer. They can point to part of the method, or retrace what they tried, which makes mistakes feel more workable and less like a dead end.

04

After a movement break, they come back to the same problem instead of treating the break as the end of Maths for the day.

05

Frustration begins to lead somewhere. They might try another approach, ask a question, or accept a hint rather than shutting the book.

06

Maths time creates less conflict between the two of you. In a homeschool setting, that change in the relationship around the subject is worth noticing.

07

Number problems that used to be avoided are attempted, even if the working is rough.

08

A difficult kitchen-table session does not cancel out the progress made elsewhere. The tutor keeps sight of the broader rhythm across sessions, including how your child starts, returns, copes with frustration and keeps going.
