Common patterns we see

A Level Physics can feel relentless when attention has to stretch across depth, pace and multi-step problem solving. Students with ADHD may grasp the ideas in lessons, but rush early steps, lose track partway through a longer problem, or miss a small detail that changes the answer. Independent study can be hard to keep consistent when topics build quickly.

A clear next step matters. Manageable practice sessions, short regular routines and simple checks as working develops can help students stay with the problem for longer and reduce last-minute pressure.

What progress looks like

01

At A Level, one of the clearest early signs is that the student starts managing the chain of reasoning more deliberately.

02

Longer questions begin with a sketch of the situation, such as a field line diagram, force diagram or circuit. Alongside it, they identify what the question is asking for, rather than moving straight into calculation.

03

In derivations, the intermediate algebra stays visible. Rearranged equations, subscripts and minus signs are less likely to vanish between steps because the working has been given space.

04

They begin to notice when one topic is leaning on another. Circular motion might be linked back to resultant force, or a capacitor question may draw on earlier work with exponentials.

05

Practice becomes less dependent on a single late burst. Shorter sets on mechanics, electricity or waves are completed, and mistakes are revisited rather than the paper being abandoned.

06

If attention slips halfway through a problem, they use a clear restart point: rereading the command word, boxing the unknown, or checking whether the answer has sensible units.

07

A difficult week in A Level Physics can simply mean the demand has risen again. The tutor looks for whether the student is becoming more systematic across topics, and discusses that longer-term picture in progress reviews.

Learning & study skills

Subject tutoring focuses on what is being learned (e.g., “I need help with Algebra.”).
Skills coaching focuses on how it is learned (e.g., “I need help getting organised to study for Algebra.”).
