My experience with special educational needs
Hi I'm Rebecca and as an inclusive educator I have spent my career making sure education works for people like you. Whether neurodivergent or facing barriers in education that others might overlook. As the founding director and former principal of successful specialist independent colleges, I have worked closely with trauma responsive partners, safeguarding teams, youth councils, parents, employers to make sure learning and skills development connects to the world beyond school and college. I have led Supported Internships where 8 out of 10 students moved into paid work and am proud to champion a world where work opportunities are available to everyone. As a public speaker, Mental Health First Aid instructor and someone who continues to learn from others I understand the importance of hearing what matters most to you. I can support you with practical advice and study strategies that lead to real skills, real confidence and open up pathways to the future you.
A bit about me
As a parent of neurodivergent grown ups, my lived experience keeps me motivated and keen to do the best for everyone who needs support to thrive and navigate systems that weren't built with difference in mind. I have spent my career redesigning those systems to be more human, more hopeful, and more effective. I've led teams of teachers and built curriculum designed to help young people to thrive. I have helped to set up a specialist college for 16-25 year-olds, where we designed a neuro-affirmative curriculum and sensory-friendly spaces. This means that as a student I don't just include you, but I build everything around your strengths, need and goals. From personal development and independence to career planning and applications to college or university.
My teaching philosophy
I teach and coach with empathy and creativity, blending my lived experience with years of professional practice in inclusive education. My values led approach puts the student first by developing a safe space to learn. I design neuro-affirmative, person-centred learning experiences, where people feel safe, understood and empowered to grow. Through sensory friendly design, flexible learning options and coaching that builds on your strengths and needs, my teaching is both practical and purposeful. I champion vocational and personal development that connect to real world learning, whether employment, independence, or self-advocacy. Coaching isn't something I do to people, it is something we will build together, giving you a sense of ownership. Whether I am mentoring a young person, supporting a parent, or leading a team, my coaching style is warm, reflective, and action orientated. I believe everyone is capable of growth and I build relationships to make that happen.
