My experience with special educational needs
I have lots of experience supporting students with special educational needs, including autism and anxiety-related challenges. I understand the importance of patience, flexibility, and adapting lessons to suit different learning styles. I believe in creating a calm, encouraging environment where students feel safe to ask questions and take their time. As someone who is neurodivergent myself, I am very aware of how learning can look different for everyone, and I always approach my sessions with empathy and understanding.
A bit about me
My name is Kay. I am a postgraduate medical student with a background in biomedical sciences. Beyond academics, I am someone who understands how different every learner can be. As someone who is neurodivergent myself, I know firsthand how important it is to feel understood and supported in your learning environment. Outside of my studies, my hobbies include content creation, cooking, and spending time with my pets!
My teaching philosophy
My approach to teaching is all about creating a supportive and flexible learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions, make mistakes, advocate for themselves, and grow. I take time to understand each student's individual learning style, strengths, goals, and then tailor my lessons to suit them. I like to make sessions interactive and engaging by using a mix of visual aids, real-life examples, and clear explanations. I also create my own resources like PowerPoints and worksheets to help break down complex topics in a simple, memorable way. Above all, I want students to leave each session feeling more confident and capable than when they started. I believe learning should feel empowering, not overwhelming, and I'm always there to encourage and cheer my students on, every step of the way.

Kay helped my son, Daniel, who has always struggled at school because of ADHD and dyslexia. He had no confidence in his abilities. Since starting tutoring sessions, he is like a new person. Kay was patient, encouraging and made sure each lesson was suitable for Daniel's needs. She helped him understand the subject but also understand his strengths and weaknesses in learning. His confidence has improved loads, and for the first time in a long time he looks forward to learning.
