My experience with special educational needs
I have extensive experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across primary and lower secondary settings. My work has included adapting lessons and resources, delivering one-to-one and small group interventions and supporting pupils with EAL and additional learning needs to access the curriculum. As part of a Senior Management Team I also took responsibility for pastoral care and behaviour management, embedding wellbeing and emotional literacy into whole-school practice. I was also the Lead teacher for PSHE. Alongside this I have volunteered in a special school and provided tailored SEND and wellbeing mentoring through private tuition. My recent role as a full-time carer for a family member with Alzheimer’s has further strengthened my empathy, resilience and ability to create a personalised approaches to care and support.
A bit about me
I have supported children with a wide range of behavioural, emotional and learning needs including ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, speech and language development difficulties and autism. In both mainstream and international schools, I have adapted my teaching approach, differentiated resources and created structured routines to meet individual needs and promote inclusion. Through targeted interventions and close collaboration with parents, support staff and external agencies I have helped pupils build confidence, develop communication and social skills and make measurable progress in their learning. My private tuition work has further enabled me to provide tailored strategies for children who require additional support to manage behaviour, strengthen literacy and numeracy foundations and improve focus and self-esteem.
My teaching philosophy
My teaching and coaching philosophy is founded on inclusion, empathy and high expectations. I believe every learner can succeed when provided with a combination of structure, encouragement and opportunities to explore creatively. I adapt my approach to suit different learners, contexts and challenges, creating an environment where children of all abilities and experiences feel supported and engaged. I focus on nurturing both academic growth and personal development, encouraging pupils to develop independence, resilience and a love of learning. As a coach and mentor, I aim to inspire confidence and reflective thinking, providing practical strategies, constructive feedback and tailored guidance to help individuals overcome obstacles and reach their potential. Collaboration with key adults fosters a holistic approach to learning and personal growth and development. My ultimate goal is to equip learners with the skills, motivation and self-assurance to thrive in all aspects of life.

Georgina has been tutoring my daughter in Maths and English for nearly three years, and the transformation has been remarkable. When we first started, my daughter was struggling with self-confidence, which affected her ability to absorb information in school. She was hesitant and nervous about tutoring, but Georgina immediately put her at ease with her warm and approachable manner. Georgina has a wonderful ability to explain concepts in a way that makes sense to my daughter, and she creates sessions that are both engaging and enjoyable. She tailors each lesson to align with the school curriculum, using the information we receive from teachers to plan ahead and reinforce key topics. The impact has been clear. My daughter’s confidence has grown significantly—she now actively participates in class and isn’t afraid to put her hand up to answer questions. Her teachers have given us glowing feedback, and she continues to thrive in both subjects. Now in Year 8, she looks forward to her weekly sessions with Georgina and sees them as a positive part of her learning journey. I couldn’t recommend Georgina more highly. She has made a lasting and meaningful difference to my daughter’s education and self-belief.
