My experience with special educational needs
In my two years of tutoring English, the vast majority of my students are diagnosed as either Dyslexic, having ADHD, Autism or Aspergers. Specialising in GCSE in particular, I have aided many of my students in improving their reading, writing, focus, study skills as well as lifelong skills such as confidence, motivation and organisation. Dyslexic students read with confidence, ADHD students become more focused and motivated, Autistic students gain skills in communication and writing and as such, as many as 85% of my students gain the grades they require to build the foundation of the rest of their lives.
A bit about me
My name is Cameron, and I am a 29-year-old graduate of Strathclyde University (Bsc. Hons) based in Glasgow, Scotland. I have spent the past two years tutoring English online, and pride myself in creating a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere within which my learners can thrive and grow. The vast majority of my past students are diagnosed as either Dyslexic, ADHD, Autism, Aspergers, or a combination of them all, and as such I have a great deal of experience with them. My dyslexic students receive the patience and gentle encouragement required to improve their reading, my ADHD students are allowed and encouraged to fidget in order to aid their concentration, and my Autistic learners are encouraged to be their true, authentic selves as means to unlock their true potential.
My teaching philosophy
I pride myself on creating a more casual, calm and relaxing atmosphere as compared to a traditional classroom setting in order to put my students at ease. Jokes and humour are highly encouraged, as too are personal stories and anecdotes in order to better understand my learners and create a solid foundation for establishing our personal relationship. It's not all fun and games however! Structure, routine, motivation and practice are the central tenants of getting the very best that I can out of all of my students.

Cameron is a talented tutor, he takes time to become familiar with his students so he can cater his lessons to their interests. My daughter really enjoys her lessons and actively engages with the homework because she enjoys it.

Cameron has been amazing with my son, offering constant support and encouragement throughout his GCSE English studies. His friendly approach and clear explanations have really helped my son understand the subject better and feel much more confident in his abilities. I’ve seen a real improvement in both his work and his attitude towards English, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything Cameron has done.

I worked with Cameron for the Months leading up to my GCSEs. He is a fantastic tutor who helped me to realise that I could not only just do English but excel at the subject. He is great at explaining ideas and concepts in a way that makes sense and I saw a huge improvement in my grades whilst working with him. I was able to achieve higher than my target grade thanks to his patience, kindness and passion for teaching.

Cameron has a welcoming nature and has worked extremely well with our autistic son increasing his confidence and academic understandings. Always willing to help even at short notice would 1,000,000% recommend.

Cameron is very patient, and caters the lessons according to my son's needs. My son has dyslexia and ADHD and so he needs lots of support. Cameron sometimes bases the lesson around subject matter that my son has a personal interest in to help with his focus and attention span. That way he actually looks forward to the lessons. Overall, a friendly, not to pushy, but a progressive approach to teaching and learning. Highly recommended.
