Learning & study skills

Subject tutoring focuses on what is being learned (e.g., “I need help with Algebra.”).
Skills coaching focuses on how it is learned (e.g., “I need help getting organised to study for Algebra.”).

Choose the main path you want to explore first. You’ll be able to review expert profiles before making any decisions.

My experience with special educational needs

I have over 10 years of experience in teaching languages to SEN students in person and remotely. During these years I have volunteered as a SEN language teacher in many European projects in Italy, France, and Portugal. In the UK, I have been awarded Arts Council England funding twice to fund art workshops for SEN young people and promote creativity for everyone.

A bit about me

I am a polyglot with a neurodivergent brain. My anxiety of not being understood propelled my great love for languages. MA in Didactics of foreign languages has helped me to build strong foundations to understand languages and teach effectively. My hypervigilance turned into strong attunement to others' needs and emotions. Currently I speak 8 languages, and I am also a professional artist. Verbal and visual expression is my medicine.

My teaching philosophy

I am open-minded, warm, friendly and very creative. My light sense of humour helps to create an inspiring learning environment where the student can feel at ease. I am very patient, empathetic and encouraging of my students' progress. I love to inspire love for learning while drawing from my passion for East Asian philosophy. I am also resident at Pervasive Media Studio in Bristol, where I learn how to integrate creative technology into my practice.

I really appreciate Axe’s pro-active and positive approach to tutoring. She has given me a lot of confidence to speak freely in a foreign language which is something that I have struggled with in the past. She is very patient and she makes the learning process enjoyable. I look forward to our weekly lessons together!

Axe is a wonderful teacher, structured and well prepared but flexible to different styles of learning and levels of ability. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
