My experience with special educational needs
With over 12 years of experience as a Qualified Teacher, I’ve worked extensively with ADHD and Autism pupils as a Specialist Targeted Intervention Teacher. My career began as a Biomedical Scientist before transitioning into education, where I found my passion for supporting students with ADHD. After being diagnosed with ADHD in my 30’s I retrained to be an ADHD Coach and now Coach and Tutor students with ADHD. I am dedicated to helping others with ADHD reach their full potential—both academically and through the development of essential life skills.
A bit about me
After receiving an ADHD diagnosis in my 30s, everything clicked. Suddenly, many of life’s struggles made sense. This newfound clarity has been life-changing, guiding me from a background in Healthcare Science and Teaching to becoming a dedicated ADHD Coach and Tutor. Now, I’m driven to help others with ADHD achieve their full potential, overcome challenges, and reach their goals. Since we’re not taught the essential skills to manage ADHD, I’m here to help you take charge and build the strategies you need to thrive.
My teaching philosophy
My approach to teaching and coaching is entirely student-focused. With over 12 years of experience as a Qualified Teacher, I have worked extensively with ADHD and Autism pupils as a Specialist Targeted Intervention Teacher. Every session I deliver is tailored to the individual needs and desired outcomes of my students, ensuring that they receive the support that works best for them. My approach is flexible, compassionate, and rooted in evidence-based strategies that empower students to thrive in their unique way.

Ruth was a huge help in supporting my daughter through her science GCSEs. She has ADHD and dyslexia and often finds it difficult to stay focused, but Ruth adapted the teaching to keep her engaged and on track. My daughter enjoyed the sessions and the encouragement made a real difference to her confidence and understanding of the subject. She made good progress and it really helped with her anxietyaround the subject. I’d highly recommend to anyone looking for a supportive and adaptable tutor with expertise in ADHD.

Ruth has been an amazing tutor for my son with ADHD and Autism. She made science engaging and easy for him to grasp with clear explanations. Beyond that, her coaching helped him with organisation time management, and staying focused. I’ve seen a huge improvement in his confidence with school.
